INDUSTRIAL VISIT REPORT

 

UST Global, Trivandrum

Organized by: BCA Department, Mar Chrysostom College, Adoor

Participants: 63 students (1st, 2nd, and 3rd years) and 6 staff members

Mode of Transport: Two tourist buses

 

  • Journey and Arrival

 

The industrial visit to UST Global, Trivandrum, was an enriching experience for the students of the BCA department. The journey began at 7:30 AM, with students being picked up from various meetup points such as Kottarakkara and Ayoor. After a short stop for breakfast, we reached the UST Global campus at 10:30 AM.

 

  • Session with Mr. Sthanu Thambi

 

Upon arrival, we attended an insightful session conducted by Mr. Sthanu Thambi, a senior employee at UST Global. He emphasized the significance of the 3Cs:

 

  • Character

 

  • Competency

 

  • Consistency

 

 

He also shared his personal theory of 3Vs:

 

  • Vocal

 

  • Verbal

 

  • Visual

 

 

Additionally, he provided valuable guidance on the key programming languages and skills a fresher should acquire, with a focus on Full Stack Development. He elaborated on the qualities UST Global looks for in potential employees and outlined the essential skills graduates need to secure a job.

 

Mr. Sthanu also encouraged self-analysis by prompting students to think about how they would introduce themselves and explain their projects in an interview. This interactive session lasted approximately 45 minutes and was highly beneficial for the students.

 

  • Company Tour

 

Following the session, UST Global staff guided us on a short tour of the company. They showcased the modern and stress-free work environment within the campus, which included:

 

  • A gym for employee fitness

 

  • A swimming pool

 

  • Beautiful infrastructure and scenic spots for relaxation

 

  • Open workspaces designed to enhance productivity

 

  • A vast campus spread over acres of land

 

 

The tour provided students with a glimpse of the corporate lifestyle and the importance of maintaining a work-life balance.

 

  • Lunch and Return

 

At around 1:00 PM, we departed from UST Global and headed for lunch at Al Saj Restaurant. After a fulfilling meal, we resumed our journey back. The buses safely reached the college at 5:00 PM, where students were picked up by their parents and returned home safely.

 

  • Conclusion

 

The industrial visit to UST Global was a highly informative and inspiring experience for the students. It provided valuable insights into industry expectations, essential skills, and workplace culture. The session by Mr. Sthanu Thambi, along with the company tour, motivated students to enhance their competencies and prepare effectively for their future careers.

 

This visit not only broadened our understanding of the IT industry but also encouraged us to strive for excellence in both technical and professional skills.
